Pan Acoustics Pan Beam is a series of loudspeakers. These active loudspeakers combine DSP functions, high-frequency drivers, digital amplification and Beam Steering Technology, designed by Pan Acoustics themselves, in compact, lightweight, elegant aluminium housings. The loudspeakers are provided with controllable sound beams, which can be precisely adjusted to the desired audience. As a result, each loudspeaker delivers constant sound pressure and volume, excellent speech intelligibility and evenly distributed, natural sound reproduction, even in large spaces.
Each Pan Beam loudspeaker is provided with one or more controllable sound beams. The vertical and horizontal opening angle can be adjusted separately. This way, the sound beams can be precisely focused on the audience.
The loudspeakers are equipped with two RJ-45 connectors. With these, the loudspeakers can be integrated with other devices and systems, such as an evacuation system, through an RS-485 network. The inputs are equipped with automatic priority switching, which is useful in emergency situations. Up to 256 Pan Beam loudspeakers can be included in a Pan Beam network and controlled simultaneously. For control over the internal audio processor/DSP functions, and for advanced remote monitoring, the Pan Beam loudspeakers can be connected to a computer. Pan Acoustics offers efficient, user-friendly and compact software for Windows. Using this professional software the opening angle and slope angle, the volume, the delay (up to 370ms) and a 5-band parametric equalizer, for example, can be set. It allows for control over the Beam Steering Technology, as well. The software can also be used to control and manage up to four networks, so that even a total of 1024 Pan Beam loudspeakers can easily be operated in one audio installation. During installation, the Pan Beams can be checked and controlled by a media control, effortlessly. The volume, sound and delay can be adjusted as required. Due to the low power consumption, during use and even more so in standby, these Pan Acoustics loudspeakers are very energy efficient.
A number of Pan Beam series loudspeakers can optionally be equipped with Pan Powerline Technology. This is a technology for transmitting power, audio signal and a control signal line. The transmission takes place through a 2-wire system. Tau sells these models as the PB04-PPL, PB08-PPL, PB16C-PPL and PBS208-PPL. Almost all loudspeakers in this series, and the sufwoofers as well, have the option to include these in a Dante network. With this technology, a loudspeaker can easily be supplied with power, sound signal and possibly a control signal line over a single 2-wire system with Phoenix connection. This means that an existing 100 V, loudspeaker or microphone cable can be used for transferring signal and power, no extra cables have to be purchased and installed. These models have the addition -D at Tau, such as the PB248-D. This does not apply to the PB16C, it is not supplied with the Dante option. All models, except the PB 07, PBC16 and both sufwoofers, are also supplied with weather resistance, for outdoor use. At Tau these models can be found with the addition -IP54 behind the type, such as the PB04-IP54.
The Pan Beam series is very suitable for temporary installations and as a permanent solution. Pan Acoustics supplies a wide range of mounting accessories for both temporary and fixed installations. Pan Beam is perfect for playing live music and speech and also offers loudspeakers for sound reproduction in the open air. They are fully weatherproof and also available in IP65 version, making them even salt-resistant, which is useful in swimming pools, for example. Because of the differences between the loudspeakers in this series, there is a solution for every conceivable situation. All Pan Beam loudspeakers are designed to deliver perfect sound quality, due to the integrated high-efficiency protection circuits, even in challenging and difficult acoustic environments. The loudspeakers are therefore very suitable for use in, among others, the applications below.
The loudspeakers from the Pan Beam series come in various sizes, have a different number of controllable sound beams and therefore have a different range. The number of drivers and internal amplifiers also varies per loudspeaker. It is possible to create the PB16, PB24, PB32 and PB40 loudspeakers by stacking multiple Pan Acoustics PB08 loudspeakers on top of each other. The advantage of this is that the lower limit frequency and the sound pressure can be precisely regulated and the coverage can be improved even more. If you prefer a loudspeaker in one housing, choose the models mentioned above. Almost all loudspeakers come in aluminium as a standard, other colours are available on request. Finally, the Pan Beam series offers 600 and 1000 watt sufwoofers, the PBS-208 and the PBS-118. The subwoofers and the PB248 loudspeaker are supplied in black as a standard. The only passive loudspeaker in this series, with low-Z drivers, is the PB08-R. Tau also supplies the PB16C, specifically designed for churches. This loudspeaker has less power than the PB16 and is suitable for smaller budgets. The newest assets to these series are the PB 07 (-D and -AES) and the PB 15 (-D and -AES). The addition AES means that these loudspeakers are equipped with an AES/EBU connection for the transfer of digital audio signals between the various audio devices.
