Soundsphere is part of MSE Audio. MSE Audio’s story starts in 1995 with a group of businessmen, designers and engineers, all audio enthusiasts. They developed a speaker, accomplishing perfection: excellent sound, handmade cases, self-constructed components and a unique design. Over the years this has involved into now holding six brands in their portfolio: Induction Dynamics, Phase Technology, Rockustics, SolidDrive, SoundTube and Soundsphere. SolidDrive is the only brand that’s been developed internally by MSE.
Every brand of MSE represents a particular line of speakers, focusing on a specific target audience. SolidDrive’s products are, for instance, regularly used in retail, yachts, home cinema systems and advertising.
SolidDrive is specifically designed for drywall, glass and wood. In addition they can also be used on ceramics, metal, gypsum panels, laminates, composites, fiberglass and acrylics. This means that the SolidDrive can be installed on walls, windows, ceilings, floors and furniture. Bijenkorf once used their shop window as a speaker like this. An elegant solution for a situation which didn’t allow for speakers on the outside of the store. The product can easily be installed directly behind or on the desired surface, without speaker, grill and visible wires. This makes them fit seamlessly in every decor, there’s no need to think about matching the appearance to the existing interior.
SolidDrive can be installed out of sight within an interactive information pillar. The object on which the SolidDrive is placed, becomes a speaker itself, without the use of visible sound components.
How does it work? The internal motor works together with magnets to convert audio signals into powerful vibrations and to transfer these onto a solid surface. SolidDrive creates a vibration, like a guitar string, and then uses the surface equalling a guitar body to produce sound. The entire surface resonates and brings forth a high-quality, clean, full-range sound, emanating from it. The sound is distributed evenly everywhere and this produces a balanced, wide, even sound field.
More power needed? SolidDrive also offers amplifiers and in-wall subwoofers. The grilles of the subwoofers can be painted, to make them fade into the interior.
The compact SolidDrive delivers beautiful sound, without speakers, grilles and visible wires.
The SolidDrive is also very efficient and need little power. Even with less than 50 watts the device is capable of producing sound. The products are thermally protected nevertheless and can safely be used for high-output applications with power levels up to 100 watts.
The absence of moving parts rubbing together inside the devices, makes them very reliable and easy to maintain.
